I grew up in Zimbabwe, a country with very little computer technology. When I was 9 years old my father bought a Commodore 64 computer to use for his business. It came with a handful of games, which I played over and over until I was sick of them. With no access to buy more games, I realised that if I wanted to play more games I would have to make them myself. I picked up the C64 user manual and taught myself BASIC, and within a couple of years was making my own games.
When I turned 16 I wrote a business management application for my father’s business. It was then I realised that I could make money from writing business software. Thus launched a career in software development, and registering my first company at the age of 19.
